Overview
CartridgeCove is a small, editorially-run archive site. This policy explains what little data we collect and why. We do not sell data, and we do not run behavioral ad tracking.
What we collect
- Contact form / email. If you email us or use the Contact page, we keep your message and address only to respond to it — corrections, rights-holder requests, or general questions. See our Sourcing & Preservation Policy for how rights requests are handled specifically.
- Standard server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider logs basic technical data (IP address, browser user agent, requested page, timestamp) for security and reliability. We do not cross-reference these logs with any advertising or tracking identifier.
- Game preferences (your device only). The emulator on game pages runs entirely in your browser. Any save states, button-mapping, or display preferences are stored locally in your browser (localStorage), never uploaded to or read by our servers.
What we do not do
- We do not require an account or registration to play games or read guides.
- We do not embed third-party ad networks, trackers, or social widgets on game pages.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Cookies
We use only the cookies strictly necessary for the site to function (e.g. session security). If that changes — for example, if we add analytics or advertising in the future — this policy will be updated first, and a cookie notice will reflect the change.
Embedded content
Guide and article pages may occasionally embed content from other sites (for example, a video). Embedded content behaves as if you visited that third-party site directly, and is subject to that site’s own privacy policy, not ours.
Your rights
You can ask what data we hold about you (typically: past correspondence, if any) and request its deletion, by emailing hello@cartridgecove.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change — for example, if we add site analytics or advertising — we will update this page and note the change here before it takes effect.
