What we host, and how
CartridgeCove hosts two kinds of game pages, clearly separated by how the game is sourced and played:
- Original preservation titles — homebrew and public-domain games, self-hosted and playable through our own embedded EmulatorJS player. Every one of these is individually researched: the license is verified, credited, and linked to its source.
- Classic game library — well-known SNES and Genesis/Mega Drive titles, played through a third-party emulator embed rather than a ROM file we host ourselves. This is the same approach used by many retro-game sites, including our sister site CraazyGames.
Every game page shows which of the two categories it belongs to: preservation titles carry a Rights confirmed badge with a license and source link; classic library titles do not carry that badge, since their sourcing basis is different and is not represented as license-cleared.
What we do not do
- We do not host copyrighted ROM files ourselves for classic-library titles — those are played via an embedded third-party player.
- We do not bulk-import ROM sets for the preservation collection. Every preservation title was added one at a time, with its sourcing basis recorded before publication.
- We do not auto-generate game descriptions from templates or bulk metadata feeds, for either category.
Rights holders: request a review or removal
If you are a rights holder (or represent one) and believe a title on CartridgeCove should not be listed, we will review and, where warranted, remove the title or its embed promptly.
Contact us at legal@cartridgecove.com (or via the Contact page) with the URL of the game page in question, your relationship to the title, and the basis for the request. We respond to good-faith rights requests within a reasonable timeframe.
Editorial standards
Every game page is written individually: platform, genre, and a real description are researched per title. We do not auto-generate game descriptions from templates or bulk metadata feeds. Guides and articles are written and credited to a named CartridgeCove editorial contributor.
