Battletoads NES

Battletoads is Rare's 1991 action game for the NES, published by Tradewest. When the Dark Queen kidnaps Pimple and Princess Angelica, his fellow Battletoads Rash and Zitz set out to rescue them.

Each level plays differently, from beat 'em up stages to rappelling down shafts, riding surfboards and the infamous Turbo Tunnel speeder bike race. The toads' fists and feet turn into giant hammers and boots for big finishing blows. It's famous for being one of the hardest games on the NES.
