Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone ARCADE
About Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone
Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone is the third arcade Double Dragon game, produced by Technos Japan in 1990 but developed externally by East Technology rather than in-house, giving it a noticeably different look and feel from its predecessors. Twin martial artists Billy and Jimmy Lee are sent on a globe-trotting quest by a mysterious fortune teller to recover three mystical Rosetta Stones.
It introduces in-game shops where players can spend collected currency on health refills, extra lives, or a rotating cast of additional playable fighters beyond Billy and Jimmy, a mechanic uncommon in beat-’em-ups of the era. Its shift away from Technos’s own core team drew mixed reactions from longtime fans of the series’ first two arcade entries, though it remains a notable entry for its worldwide-adventure structure and expanded roster.
