Pokémon Yellow GAMEBOY
About Pokémon Yellow
Pokémon Yellow is Game Freak’s 1998 Game Boy Color update, built to more closely follow the plot and cast of the concurrently airing Pokémon anime — Pikachu follows the player around the overworld outside its Poké Ball, and rival characters and events are adjusted to line up with the show’s early storylines rather than the original games’ looser structure.
Beyond the anime tie-in changes, it adds full color support for compatible hardware while remaining playable on the original monochrome Game Boy, and tweaks several Pokémon movesets and availability compared to Red and Blue. Its anime-aligned framing made it a common entry point for players who came to the games after watching the show first.
