Road Rash GENESIS
About Road Rash
Road Rash is Electronic Arts’ 1991 Genesis original, one of the company’s first internally developed console games after EA began building titles in-house rather than only publishing them. You race a motorcycle through five illegal street races across California — Sierra Nevada, Pacific Coast, Redwood Forest, Palm Desert, and Grass Valley — trying to place high enough to advance to the next event.
What set it apart from other racers of the era was direct combat: riders can punch, kick, and swing weapons like chains and clubs at rivals mid-race to knock them off their bikes, all while still needing to dodge oncoming traffic and police pursuit. That blend of racing and biker-brawl combat became the series’ defining hook across several Genesis and later PlayStation sequels.
