Vectorman

About Vectorman

Vectorman is BlueSky Software’s 1995 run-and-gun platformer, built late in the Genesis’s commercial life using pre-rendered 3D-modeled sprites in the same vein as Donkey Kong Country, applied here to an original robotic protagonist made of interchangeable orb segments rather than a licensed character.

Set on a near-future Earth where toxic waste has turned Vectorman’s fellow cleanup robots hostile, it leans on fast, physics-heavy platforming and a wide arsenal of transformations — Vectorman can reshape into a drill, a helicopter, and other forms mid-level. Released as Sega pushed to keep the aging Genesis visually competitive against the newer 32-bit consoles, it stands as one of the system’s last major original titles.
