About NBA Jam

NBA Jam is Midway’s 1993 two-on-two arcade basketball game, ported to the SNES in April 1994 by Iguana UK and published by Acclaim Entertainment. The console version updates the arcade original’s 1992-93 season rosters to the 1993-94 season, letting players pick from all 27 NBA teams for exaggerated, foul-free two-on-two matches.

Its signature hook is physics-breaking dunks that trigger an on-fire streak after consecutive baskets, turning the ball itself into a flaming graphic and boosting the shooter’s stats mid-game. Hidden unlockable characters, activated through input codes at the character-select screen, became one of the era’s most talked-about playground rumors and helped make it one of the best-selling sports games of the 16-bit generation.
