Road Fighter NES
About Road Fighter
Road Fighter is Konami’s racing game, originally released to arcades in 1984 and ported to the NES the following year. You drive a red Chevrolet Corvette down a straight, scrolling highway, weaving between traffic and rival racers to reach the finish line before running out of time.
Fuel management adds tension beyond simple obstacle-dodging: colliding with certain special vehicles refills your tank, while everyday traffic collisions cost time and can end a run outright if fuel runs dry mid-stage. Its combination of tight lane-weaving action and constant time/fuel pressure made it one of the earlier influential entries in the straight-road racing genre, predating similarly structured games like Konami’s own Konami GT.
