Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom ARCADE
About Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom
Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom is Capcom’s 1993 licensed beat-’em-up, the first of two arcade brawlers the studio built directly on official D&D rules, preceding its own sequel Shadow over Mystara. Up to four players choose from character classes like fighter, cleric, dwarf, and elf, each with distinct stats and spell or item options, and fight through a story adapted from tabletop D&D adventure modules.
Running on Capcom’s CPS-1 hardware, it introduced the RPG-inflected structure — gold collection, equipment shops, class-based abilities — that its sequel would later refine on the more powerful CPS-2 board. As one of the earliest attempts to graft real tabletop RPG rules onto arcade brawler combat, it set the template its more widely remembered sequel built on.
