About Super Hang-On

Super Hang-On is Sega’s 1987 arcade motorcycle racer, a sequel to the original Hang-On, ported to the Genesis in 1989 as one of the console’s early racing titles. You race across four world-tour regions of varying difficulty, managing fuel and checkpoints while weaving through slower AI traffic at high speed.

The Genesis version adds an Original mode alongside the arcade-faithful mode, letting players build up a rider profile and unlock harder regions over repeated play rather than just chasing a single high score — a structure not present in the original coin-op cabinet. Its scaling-sprite pseudo-3D road technique, inherited from Sega’s Super Scaler arcade hardware, made it one of the more visually impressive racers available on the Genesis at launch.
