Sword of Vermilion GENESIS

Sword of Vermilion is Sega's 1989 action RPG for the Mega Drive, produced by a team led by Yu Suzuki. You play as the son of the fallen king of Excalabria, raised in secret, who sets out to defeat the evil King Tsarkon and recover eight magical rings.

The game switches between three views. Towns are shown from above, the overworld and dungeons are explored in first person, and battles take place in real time from a top-down view. Boss fights switch to side-on duels. That mix made it one of the more ambitious early RPGs on the Genesis.
