About robotfindskitten

robotfindskitten for NES is a 2014 port by Damian Yerrick of the original robotfindskitten, a “Zen simulation” written by Leonard Richardson as an entry to a 1997 game jam (it won by default, being the only entry). The concept is simple: you are robot (#), and your job is to find a kitten hiding somewhere among a field of objects. Bump into an item to learn whether it’s kitten or merely a “non-kitten item” (NKI) — a one-line joke, reference, or observation. The game ends the moment robotfindskitten.

This NES version was built for the Action 53 homebrew multicart and supports two simultaneous robots, one per controller port, each with an independent field and status display — a deviation from the original single-player format. Many of its non-kitten item descriptions reference the first two volumes of Action 53.
