Chrono Trigger SNES

Chrono Trigger is Square’s 1995 RPG, built by a team its marketing dubbed the “Dream Team”: Final Fantasy director Hironobu Sakaguchi, Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii, and Dragon Ball artist Akira Toriyama. It follows a group of time travelers hopping between prehistory, the present, a dystopian future, and beyond to stop a planet-consuming catastrophe.

Its Active Time Battle system removed random encounters in favor of visible enemies on the field, and its New Game+ mode — letting players restart with their full inventory and stats intact to see different endings — was uncommon for the genre at the time. It’s consistently ranked among the best-regarded RPGs of the 16-bit era.
