About Mickey Mania

Mickey Mania: The Timeless Adventures of Mickey Mouse is Traveller’s Tales’ 1994 platformer, published by Sony Imagesoft for the SNES alongside Genesis and Sega CD versions, and designer David Jaffe’s first credited game design project. Rather than an original story, it’s structured as a tour through six of Mickey’s classic cartoons, including Steamboat Willie, The Mad Doctor, and Mickey and the Beanstalk.

Each stage’s visual style and obstacles are built around recreating that specific cartoon’s era and tone, shifting from black-and-white 1920s aesthetics in early levels to full color as the timeline progresses. Its box famously advertised animation work by real Disney animators, a selling point that helped it stand out among the era’s glut of licensed platformers, though a planned sequel was cancelled so Traveller’s Tales could work on a Toy Story game instead.
