About Mega Man IV

Mega Man IV is Capcom’s 1993 Game Boy entry, part of a separate handheld sub-series that remixed bosses from the NES mainline games rather than following its own numbered continuity in lockstep. It introduces the Mega Buster’s charge shot to the Game Boy series and adds new original Robot Masters alongside NES-derived ones.

Developed by a different, smaller team than the NES entries, the Game Boy Mega Man games are frequently treated as a self-contained side story — building their own recurring cast and plot threads distinct from the console series, despite sharing the numbering convention that makes them easy to mistake for the same continuity at a glance.
