NBA Jam Tournament Edition is Acclaim’s 1994 SNES update to its arcade basketball game NBA Jam, adding the full active NBA roster of the time, new dunks and moves, and hidden secret characters unlockable through special codes — a feature that helped fuel the era’s playground rumor-mill culture around home console games.

Like the original arcade Jam, it plays two-on-two with no fouls and physics-defying dunks, but the Tournament Edition adds a hot-streak “on fire” mechanic that rewards consecutive scoring with a flaming ball and boosted stats. Its blend of exaggerated arcade action and real NBA licensing made it one of the best-selling sports games of the 16-bit generation.
