About Dark Seal
Dark Seal is Data East’s 1990 arcade game, released in the West as Gate of Doom. One or two players choose from four heroes — Knight, Wizard, Bard, or Ninja — to fight through the fantasy kingdom of Etrulia, summoned to seal the demon-spawning Gate of Doom before its corruption spreads.
Its isometric perspective lets characters move and attack in all eight directions, an unusual viewpoint for an arcade beat-’em-up more typically presented in flat side-scrolling. Defeating enemies fills a magic gauge that unlocks screen-clearing spells like fire, thunder, and a petrifying medusa effect, giving the co-op combat a tactical layer beyond simple button-mashing.
