Elevator Action Returns ARCADE

Elevator Action Returns, released in North America as Elevator Action II, is Taito’s 1994 sequel to its 1983 arcade classic Elevator Action. Up to two players choose from three secret agents infiltrating a multi-floor building to stop terrorists armed with nuclear weapons, riding elevators between floors while shooting enemies and dropping through red doors to progress.

It’s a major leap over the original in scope: the first game had one agent stealing documents with no real story, while this sequel adds a full plot with voiced cutscenes, six levels, boss fights, an expanded arsenal, and noticeably tougher enemies. That added structure and production value made it a well-regarded modernization of the elevator-based stealth-action formula more than a decade after the original’s release.
