About Metroid
Metroid is Nintendo's 1986 action-adventure, developed by Nintendo R&D1 and produced by Gunpei Yokoi. Bounty hunter Samus Aran travels to the planet Zebes to destroy the Space Pirates and the dangerous Metroid creatures, before facing the Mother Brain.
Zebes is a single connected map. Picking up items like the Morph Ball, missiles and the Ice Beam lets you reach areas that were blocked before, which inspired the genre now called Metroidvania. Finishing the game quickly reveals that Samus is a woman, one of gaming's most famous surprises.
