Earthworm Jim is Shiny Entertainment's 1994 action platformer, designed by David Perry with characters by Doug TenNapel. An ordinary earthworm named Jim becomes a hero when a high-tech super suit falls from the sky.
Jim uses his own body as a whip, swings from hooks and blasts enemies with a plasma gun. The levels are wildly varied, from a junkyard full of trash to underwater sections and a bungee fight. Hand-drawn animation and offbeat humor made Earthworm Jim one of the most memorable games of the 16-bit era.
