About Goof Troop

Goof Troop is Capcom’s 1993 SNES game based on the Disney animated series of the same name, notable as the first game designed by Shinji Mikami — who would later create the Resident Evil series. One or two players control Goofy and his son Max, working through five areas of Spoonerville Island to rescue Pete and PJ from pirates.

Rather than straightforward action, most of the game is built around block-pushing and environmental puzzles that must be solved to progress through each area before reaching a boss fight, giving it more in common with a puzzle-adventure than the typical licensed platformer of the era. Its two-player cooperative design, requiring both Goofy and Max to coordinate puzzle solutions together, was an unusually deliberate use of simultaneous co-op for a Disney tie-in game.
