Final Fight ARCADE
About Final Fight
Final Fight is Capcom’s 1989 beat-’em-up, running on the same CPS-1 arcade board later used for Captain Commando and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. Playing as one of three fighters including mayor-slash-ex-wrestler Mike Haggar, you fight through Metro City to rescue the mayor’s kidnapped daughter from the Mad Gear gang.
Originally conceived as a sequel to Capcom’s earlier Street Fighter before being spun off into its own franchise, it’s widely credited alongside Double Dragon with cementing the side-scrolling beat-’em-up as a dominant arcade genre through the early 1990s, and its character designs and Metro City setting went on to recur across several later Capcom crossover games.
