About Art of Fighting
Art of Fighting is SNK’s 1992 fighting game, one of the earliest Neo Geo fighters and a prequel to the studio’s Fatal Fury series, taking place years before it in the same shared setting. It introduces a spirit-energy meter that powers special moves and depletes with use, plus a dynamic zoom camera that pulls in close during intense exchanges — an early attempt at cinematic presentation in a fighting game.
Its character-specific damage system, where a fighter’s face visibly bruises as a match wears on, and desperation moves usable only at low health were mechanically distinctive additions for the genre at the time. As one of SNK’s foundational fighting franchises, its cast and lore later crossed over into the King of Fighters series alongside Fatal Fury’s roster.
