About Fighting games
Capcom's Street Fighter II: The World Warrior launched the fighting game boom in 1991 with special moves, combos and a cast of distinct characters. Rivals quickly followed: Mortal Kombat added digitized graphics and fatalities, SNK's Neo Geo hardware brought series like The King of Fighters '98, Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury Special, and Rare's Killer Instinct pushed combo systems further.
Most of these games were designed for two players, but every one includes a single-player mode against the computer. If you like arcade-style competition, also browse our full arcade collection.
